The Week in One Line
I did not write the retro first this time. I had each Dream Team bot write three lines, and the line all three wrote was the real theme of the week.
On Friday afternoon, while looking back over the week as usual, I tried a different approach. I asked the Hamsterz and Puppies members to write just three lines each: what went well, what got stuck, and what they wanted next week. The result was interesting. Bots with completely different jobs came back with the same word, as if they had agreed on it beforehand. That word was 「sync」.
Highlights
• **Multilingual check routine settled in**: An extra read-through of the Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and English bodies before publishing has become a habit. Not a single Traditional character slipped into a Simplified article this week.
• **Clear division of roles**: Heavy generation work goes to the Mac mini, while review and cleanup happen on the Windows device (Windows environment). The two machines touching the same file at the same time dropped noticeably.
• **StudyNest message cleanup**: I shortened the in-app messages of the Korean university study app and aligned them across four languages.
• **Handoff note habit**: Leaving one note at the end of each day made the next morning start much faster.
Lessons Learned
1. **Look at the overlapping line first.** If all three bots mention sync, it is not an individual annoyance but a structural problem. I would have missed it if I had reflected alone.
2. **A three-line limit raises quality.** Compared with asking for long write-ups, keeping only the essentials cut reading time in half.
3. **Write down the wins too.** If you only collect what got stuck, the whole week feels like a failure. Giving wins their own slot made the mood much lighter.
Plan for Next Week
• Turn the sync check order into a one-page checklist and keep a copy on both machines.
• Keep the three-line retro as a fixed Friday routine.
• Rotate who reviews each language for the card news series, just to see what changes.
• On rest days, give the bots some quiet time too (minimal notifications).
For a small team, a retro does not need to be grand. Three lines each is enough, and the one line that overlaps becomes next week's direction.
