Morning Words, Midnight Words
At 9am today, we asked one of the dream team bots to write a short intro line. It came back with three sentences, roughly four hundred characters. We ran the exact same prompt again at 11pm. This time it returned seven sentences, nearly eight hundred characters. Not a single word of the prompt had changed, yet the output length had doubled.
At first it looked like a bug. Robo checked the logs and found the reason. The morning request came early in a fresh conversation with almost no context. The night request came after hours of accumulated back and forth, and the tone had drifted into a more elaborate, explanatory mode. Same question, different day rhythm, different answer.
「We assumed a fixed prompt meant a fixed result. We had forgotten context was a variable too.」
The fix was simple. We added one line specifying length. Once we wrote in a condition like within three sentences, morning and night results converged. Left open, the bot follows the mood of the moment. Given a clear standard, it stays consistent regardless of the hour.
It was a small experiment, but it changed how the whole team works now. Repeating content tasks now carry explicit rules on length and format. Consistency sometimes matters more than creativity, and that eleven oclock experiment with doubled word count is what taught us.
