We Changed Only Slide One
A carousel is usually won or lost on its first slide. For a while our team wrote slide-one titles as questions, like 「Will AI take my job?」. The response was fine, but saves bounced around and we had a nagging feeling that we were picking by gut alone.
How We Set It Up
• We prepared the same 10 topics.
• For each topic we made only slide one in two versions. A was a question, B was a number.
• We alternated A and B so the day of the week would not skew the result.
• Robo collected the figures into a table.
Number-style example: 「3 tasks I handed to AI, and one of them failed」
Results
After two weeks the average saves were 11 per post for the question style and 19 per post for the number style. The sample is small, so we will not claim it is the answer. Still, the number style came out ahead in seven of the ten topics.
A Surprise
Bigger numbers were not better. Small ones like 「3 tasks」 or 「2 times」 worked well, while 「100 tips」 actually got fewer saves. What seems to matter is a size that makes readers feel they can finish it. A small slice of failure in the title also helped.
Rules We Kept
1. Put just one small number on slide one.
2. Mix in a bit of failure story when possible.
3. Re-measure the same way every two weeks.
We only swapped a gut call for one table, and picking next week's slide one now takes much less effort.
